Raise your hand if you enjoy peeking on your kids while they are sleeping. Aaron and I (okay, it was his idea first-I was too worried we’d wake them up and then they couldn’t go back to sleep!) started this a few years ago and it’s so sweet, isn’t it? To see these precious little ones that God has trusted us crazy, irresponsible and often distracted parents with. I love it.
I want to love my kids during the day the way that I love them when I watch them sleeping or when I haven’t seen them in a day or two.
I know, it’s different when they are sleeping and is completely understandable that we can muster up more mushy gushy love for them while they are quietly laying there and not talking back, whining and disobeying. I’m going to try and see my kids through those love stained, rose-colored glasses today; to remember their sweet countenance and peaceful spirit-even if that’s not what they are portraying as their foremost character quality at the time.
Here’s to a day filled with love for our kids!
I wish your blog posts had a “like” button, but I’m going to go ahead and put forth the effort and tell you that I “like” your post, but I actually “love” it. ”
Yes, I love to look at my kids when they are sleeping! They are deceptively sweet! 🙂

Here I thought the post would be about some delicious bread heart that I can make while I sleep. Instead, you take me to the place I go every night when I check on my kiddos, breathe in their sweet smell, and watch them sleep. So peaceful, so quiet…so true that the emotions I feel in those moments are quite different from the ones I feel when I am encountering their whining, sassy, and/or disobedient alter egos. Thanks for sharing and letting me know I’m not alone.
