Diva Fiva!

I’d like to warn you men folk out there (um, I think that’s just you, dad). This is a girl post. Like I’m going to talk about menstruating. Unless you have a woman in your life who is currently ovulating and you’d like to offer them really great advice (and they are willing to hear it from you) just move on down the road, gentlemen.

I’ve been so excited to share with you about this new ugh, cup, I’ve been using-the Diva Cup. Apparently there are disposable versions of these little beauties at grocery stores-but this one you can just keep washing and using-remarkable! I’m so excited about this I’m not sure where to start-so I’ll direct you to where I did start-and first heard about-the Diva Cup. First I started here then I went here. I’d also like you to notice that she has a picture of her Diva cup in her photo collage at the top. Very cool of her. The writer of this CheapLikeMeBlog.com is actually a colleague and friend of mine for almost ten years. When she first wrote about this I was really excited-but I was quite skeptical and very unsure of how this would actually replace my tampon usage. Her posts that I linked to above are very informative and I read them over and over as I tried this out last month. Very useful. I also found this article to be quite witty and offer way too many puns on the subject-but it was very fun to read and is also the blog from which I stole the above photo.

Okay, now that I’ve got you thinking about this, I’m going to stop here. I’ll write more later-but too much of a good thing, well, is just too much. I’ve only used it for one round. I’d like to get the hang of it a bit more so will check in with you after round two or three. I have to tell you, though-it was SO nice to pop (well, more like fold, shove and twist) it in and not worry about it all day-once my flow was lighter…okay, more on that later : )

p.s. El Guapo is completely embarrassed that I’d write about this. He just doesn’t understand. I mean, how could a girl keep from her girlfriends such a great source of happiness and freedom!!??

  1. Hooray, glad you finally get to try it! I said it in my posts but when it really, really rules is when you are traveling away from home … no bulky supplies to bring with you, and you don’t have to run to the bathroom with your purse all the time. Good luck and happy Diva-ing!

    • Yes, I can totally see that. Especially if, like me, your cycles are irregular-it’s nice to know that I don’t have to pack all kinds of stuff “just in case”. Just throw the cup in and I’m on my way!

  2. I’ve actually used this. And it was the diva-cup! I really, really liked it. Not having to worry about leaving it in too long. It was just nice. The only problem I had was I got 3 bladder infections the year I used it. I believe it was because of how it sat after inserted. I would clean it and clean it and be so careful. I finally had to stop using it 😦 but I haven’t had an infection since. I had read in other reviews (after being so confused!) that it can cause bladder infections because it may rest on the urethra. I think it just depends on how we’re made 🙂 I hope it works for you. It was definitely nice.

    • Oh, that would be a bummer! I do get those often, so I will have to keep an eye out. I’m trying out D-Manose powder to stave off possible infections. Seems to be working for now-well, since January-which is pretty good odds for me : )

I have one too and have been using it for a couple years. I LOVE it!!!! 🙂 I still need to have a panty liner because I occasionally spill over or don’t get it inserted quite right. But I love the freedom of not using bulky pads or tampons. Yay!
I’ve tried for years to get my friends to try this out but no one will… they think it’s gross. I think it’s way grosser to have yucky stuff in the trash can!
