As promised from my “part one” post: Part two-how ’bout that?!
The second book that is challenging me to live differently than I have been and than the culture in which I live: Too Small to Ignore by Wess Stafford (President and CEO of Compassion International).
Wow. This book tugs at so many heart strings-where do I start? With this-you also must read this book! Our library has it on audio so again, no reason you shouldn’t read/listen to this one, too! Dr. Stafford does a fantastic job walking us through his childhood as a missionary kid in the African country Ivory Coast. He goes on to share how his experiences there challenged him to change the world for children one life at a time.
Because of these books I’m wearing different glasses. While I’m grocery shopping, buying gifts for the girls or for their friends-using my resources (time and money)I’m doing it in a way that keeps in mind the starving children around the world. As a practical example-this weekend the girls gave gifts to friends from Samaritan’s Purse gift catalog. We looked through and bought Bibles, chickens and mosquito nets for their three friends instead of toys. They were really excited and (I think) their friends were too.
Now go…read and be ready to be challenged!
